Hess Corporate Travel
Disaster recovery and redundant Internet

Hess Corporate Travel (www.hesstravel.com), a leading business travel agency in Utah, requires 100% uptime for their Internet connectivity. During the summer of 2011, Shane Van Noy, Director of IT at Hess Corporate Travel, turned to Utah Broadband for a wireless Disaster Recovery (DR) circuit.  It didn’t take long for Hess Corporate Travel to get a huge payback on their investment.

“Utah Broadband’s connection has saved our bacon on multiple occasions. Because of the redundant internet connection through UBB, we were able to continue our work flow with virtually no interruption and maintain a high level of productivity for the business.”

Challenges and solutions
In December of 2011, due to local construction, cables and fiber were cut and Hess experienced a total Internet blackout with their primary provider. Under normal circumstances, this would have been disastrous for Hess and their customers. However, Hess called Utah Broadband and UBB immediately upgraded their DR circuit to the bandwidth they needed and Hess never missed a beat.

Again in February 2012, Hess’s primary cable Internet service failed. For several days, their primary Internet slowed to a crawl and became unusable. Once again, Hess was able to fail over to Utah Broadband’s wireless link immediately and avert a catastrophe.

Utah Broadband’s Disaster Recovery solution has saved Hess tens of thousands of dollars.

The result
“Utah Broadband’s connection has saved our bacon on multiple occasions. Because of the redundant internet connection through UBB, we were able to continue our work flow with virtually no interruption and maintain a high level of productivity for the business,” says Shane Van Noy.
